As members of the Mississippi Women for Agriculture (MWA), we are committed to the mission and purpose of the organization. MWA aims to increase the knowledge and skills of women in all aspects of farm and agribusiness. Educational classes and workshops cover everything from net worth, estate planning, and farm/family budgets. It also offers Mississippi farm women the opportunity to form friendships, share ideas, and how to engage the public while promoting issues important to agriculture including aquaculture which is dear to our heart.
We strive to encourage young women in agriculture through financial support provided by our Mississippi Women for Agriculture-Dianne Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship was named after Dianne, the inspiration for the organization and initially funded by memorials made to MWA following her untimely death in 2011. Since that time, MWA has increased scholarships to women in the field of agriculture from one to three in 2015. In addition our Commissioner of Agriculture, Cindy Hyde-Smith, has joined our efforts and is personally giving a scholarship to one additional woman.
In 2014, MWA decided that we wanted to increase our financial support for women entering the agricultural field at Mississippi State University. Please join us in supporting those women entering the field of agriculture as they are our future.
